Biotin is B vitamin which is used as a natural remedy for brittle nails. Biotin is widely available in supplement form. Beside that biotin supplement can help treat brittle nails, it also help in weight loss and treat conditions for acne, ezcema, diabetes, and depression. But the effectiveness of this biotin supplement still questionable. Because there is not enough scientific evidence to verified biotin may help reduce brittle nails. Biotin supplement is still be a controversial for brittle nails, because several studies had showed from 44 patients with brittle nails try the treatment of biotin supplement for six month. Then the result is of the 35 people who completed the study, 63 percent showed significant improvement while 37 percent reported no change in their condition.

Actually, the benefits of using supplement of biotin for nails is not yet enough to demonstrate. You can fill your biotin naturally without supplement, such as brewer’s yeast, nutritional’s yeast, liver, cauliflower, salmon, bananas, carrots, egg yolks, sardines, legumes, and mushrooms in your diet. Biotin deficiency may occur in people who drink alcohol excessively or consume of raw egg white. The symptoms of biotin deficiency that you can to know are thinning of the hair, a red scaly rash, depression, exhaustion, hallucination, and tingling of the arms and legs. You may fill your biotin naturally with your food, it is better than you consume biotin supplements.

Brittle nails is a normal condition as consequently of the aging process. You only need biotin for nails, but try to avoid the biotin supplements because it is not good enough for your health nails. If you have brittle nails, you would better to consult it with your doctor than self-treating your nails with biotin supplements.
